absolutely do not have a good enough camera to document it but i looked out the window a bit ago and discovered that a charmingly friend-shaped spider (more or less the size and shape of a small hazelnut, with sturdy little striped-sock legs) had somehow managed to construct an enormous beautiful doily of a web between the second* floor of the house and a tree that's… probably a good six feet away???? baffling. magical. absolutely impossible to photograph at dusk with an iphone se. so instead i'm telling all of you about it.

Top Signs You Need a Professional Foundation Inspection for Foundation Repair
Tumblr media
A strong, stable foundation is the bedrock of a safe and secure home, but sometimes, even the most durable foundations can experience issues. As a homeowner, it’s essential to be able to spot signs that your home’s foundation might need professional attention. If you notice any of the following warning signs, it could be time to schedule a foundation inspection from a qualified foundation repair expert.
1. Cracks in Walls or Floors
One of the most obvious indicators that something might be wrong with your foundation is the appearance of cracks in your walls, floors, or ceilings. These cracks, especially when they widen over time, can signal that your foundation is shifting or settling unevenly. Horizontal cracks are especially concerning, as they may suggest structural issues beneath the surface.
2. Doors and Windows That Stick or Won’t Close Properly
If doors and windows are no longer functioning as they should—becoming difficult to open, close, or lock—it could be a sign of a settling foundation. This happens when the house shifts or sinks, which distorts door and window frames. It’s a common red flag for foundation repair needs.
3. Uneven or Sagging Floors
When your floors begin to sag or seem uneven, it might indicate that the foundation is no longer supporting the weight of the home as it should. This issue can be particularly noticeable in older homes or houses built on expansive soils that shift with moisture changes.
4. Water Damage or Dampness in the Basement
Excess moisture in the basement or crawl space can be a sign of foundation problems. Leaks, mold growth, or standing water can occur when your foundation develops cracks or gaps that allow water to seep in. This not only jeopardizes your home’s structural integrity but can also lead to health hazards.
5. Visible Foundation Cracks or Shifting
Another key indicator is the presence of visible cracks along the foundation’s exterior. If the cracks are wider than half an inch, or if they’re progressively getting bigger, it’s a clear sign that the foundation is shifting or settling. A professional foundation inspection can help determine whether repair is necessary.
6. Exterior Tilting or Shifting
Look at your home from the outside—if you notice that the structure appears to be tilting or leaning, it could be a serious foundation problem. This tilting may be subtle, but over time, it can lead to major structural issues that require immediate foundation repair.
7. Bowing or Leaning Walls
If your basement or foundation walls start to bow, crack, or lean inward, this is a major indicator that your foundation is under stress. Bowing walls are usually caused by pressure from the soil surrounding your foundation. Left unchecked, this can lead to significant damage that will only worsen over time.
Why You Shouldn’t Wait
Ignoring the signs of foundation issues can lead to costly repairs down the line. The sooner you detect and address problems with your foundation, the more likely you are to save money and preserve the safety of your home. If you notice any of the signs mentioned above, it’s time to reach out to a professional for a thorough foundation inspection.
A foundation repair expert can assess the condition of your home’s foundation and provide solutions that are tailored to your specific needs. Whether it's minor crack repair or a more comprehensive foundation stabilization plan, professional intervention is the key to maintaining the long-term health of your home.
Don't wait for small issues to turn into major problems—schedule a foundation inspection today and ensure your home is built on a solid foundation for years to come!

Slope Flooring Applications
No one wants uneven floors – or do they? The fact is that sloped flooring has applications that few people realize. In some instances, uneven floors could actually serve the needs of certain industries!
Types of Sloped Floors
Sloped floors are basically uneven floors. In many instances, uneven flooring is unwanted and viewed as a structural defect. In some places, however, sloped floors are intended as part of the overall design of the building!
Currently, there are two major types of sloped floors. There are the anti-fatigue floors and the non-slip type. The anti-fatigue is typically made of foam or other material that helps cushion the feet. This is used in properties where people stand for long periods like the check-out counter. The foam helps reduce leg pain caused by standing for too long periods!
The non-slip flooring on the other hand is designed to create traction on the floor surface. They’re typically placed in high-traffic areas like hallways. This helps prevent slippage which can happen in areas with massive foot traffic!
Commercial Applications of Sloped Floors
In residential homes, sloped floors are mainly seen in bathrooms. The sloped floor leads to the drain, allowing water to naturally flow thanks to gravity. This way, there are zero chances of the water remaining stagnant on the bathroom floor!
In commercial properties, however, sloped floors are integrated due to a variety of reasons. Here’s where you can usually find these installations:
Commercial Kitchens
Sloped floors are installed in commercial kitchens for ease of cleaning. It’s necessary to keep the kitchen flooring clean since food is prepared in the space. With sloped floors, the cleaning process becomes easier, especially for incredibly busy kitchens. However, the reasoning is a bit more than that. The fact is that kitchens can experience spills of different liquid products from oil, vinegar, stock, and so on. A sloped floor helps the liquid pool into a particular area, therefore minimizing the chances of slipping on the surface!
Animal Housing
You will find that most dairy housings have sloped flooring. This is to help with cleaning, especially for certain animals. However, dairy housing has an added reason for the sloped surface. This is because cows develop weaker legs on flat surfaces. Remember – cows genetically evolved to walk on uneven ground. The uneven surface helps them grip the floor better and therefore develop stronger legs. With a completely flat surface, this becomes impossible. Good installers have the ability to create small grooves onto the surface, allowing it to get as close as possible to how the ground looks and feels. This minimizes slips and falls for the cows or other animals!
Running Tracks
This sounds counterproductive as running tracks are supposed to be flat in order to keep the surface safe for runners, right? However, studies have shown that slightly sloped floors can actually reduce the impact on the feet. This makes them ideal for runners who are training long distances and need to have a bit more cushioning for the joints. The sloped design can also help control overall speed so there’s less risk of falling or slipping!
Wheelchair Floors
This one’s a no-brainer as sloped floors actually make it easier for wheel-chair bound persons to move from one space to another. Gravity does most of the work as they move through space. But what about if they have to go uphill? Since the degree of the slope is very minimal and so it barely registers. Overall, however, sloped floors offer a net positive for wheelchair users!
Industrial Processing
The same with commercial kitchens, sloped floors in industrial buildings help reduce accidents resulting from slipping and sliding. Combined with the right materials, sloped floors can also withstand thermal shock, high-temperature changes, and certain chemicals!
Sloped or uneven floors have practical uses in both residential and commercial settings. However, it’s important to note that sloped flooring is as good as the people installing it. Extreme Epoxy Coatings are industry leaders who have ample experience in installing sloped floors that meet business needs without ruining the aesthetic appeal of the space. If you’re thinking about installing sloped floors, make sure to check them out and look through their offerings before placing an order!

It’s crazy how maintenance workers are able to get to my apartment so fast after putting in a request. But the amount of times they have said we can’t do anything to resolve this is disheartening.
My dishwasher is stuck on the end of the cycle. It plays the last minute and will not start at the beginning. They told me there are six cycles depending on how long you want to wash. But I have tried cycling through and it never starts at the beginning. I was told they can read the manual and that was that. I have to pay $2600 a month for a place that doesn’t really have amenities. The dishwasher does not work and my stove will destroy food at the setting right above low.
